Questions for the coach

PLAYERS

The following is the Warren Woods Tower policy concerning player commitment and conduct during practices and games.  The high school expects to develop and maintain a tradition of excellence.  We believe it is important for the players to have a positive reputation in the soccer community through proper dress, behavior and playing style.

PLAYER EXPECTATIONS

1.      Commitment to Warren Woods Tower ideals and philosophy.

2.      Maintenance of the highest standards of conduct and good sportsmanship.

3.      Respect for the game, your opponents, coaches and officials are a must.

4.      Attendance to all games and practices with proper preparation (i.e., mental, physical and nutritional).

5.      If a player is unable to attend, it is his/her responsibility to the contact the coach or team manager as soon as possible.  Failure to attend practices may result in loss of playing time.

6.      Players must respect each other.  This is essential for effective teamwork.  It is not necessary that players are good friends off the field, but on the field, everyone must work toward the common goal.

7.      Players responsibilities:  Have proper soccer shoes (outdoor/indoor)

Shin guards to be worn at all times

                                                    Properly inflated soccer ball

Bring a drink to every practice and game

PLAYING TIME

Based upon the size of the roster, there is a limited quantity of playing time available during games.  Playing time will be based on the following factors:

·         Attendance and Effort at Practice

This is done to reward players who attend practice, are cooperative and work hard while there.  Players who are less skilled, but attend practice and give sincere effort will be rewarded with game playing time at the expense of those who do not attend mandatory practice sessions.

·         Ability

All factors being equal, the greater a player’s understanding and vision of the game and the greater his/her physical ability, the more playing time one can expect.

·         Player Attitude

The better a player’s attitude, the better his/her chance of playing

·         Fatigue

If a player is sluggish or having an off day, he/she may not get as much time as a

player who is on top of his/her game.

·         Position

Some positions, such as midfield and forward, require more running and are likely to be substituted more frequently than defenders.

·         Coach’s Discretion

The coach will always do what he/she feels is in the best interest of the team as a whole.
